The history of what we call Rum
Cocktail Builds
Dark ‘n’ Stormy
A surprisingly easy cocktail to make, the float of dark rum on top gives it a striking visual presence. The ginger and lime play up to any aged rum, offsetting the richness inherent an older rum. The Dark’n’Stormy is an easy first step towards a Tiki hobby…which leads to an inevitable obsession!
East India Trading Co
An elegant stirred rum cocktail that plays into the richness of an aged rum in a very unique way. The PX sherry with it’s dried fruit characteristics pull the subtle bitter notes of the amaro and tropical fruit notes of the rum together.
Chet Baker
A comfortable rum cocktail that highlights the spirit’s strengths and fills in the gaps where lacking? Say no more. The Chet Baker occupies the space between an Old Fashioned and a Manhattan. The earthy depth of sweet vermouth and the natural not-too-sweet-ness of honey play beautifully together, and with an aged rum!
Caipirinha
Deceptively strong, the Caipirinha easily masks the alcohol in the cachaça with funkiness and fresh lime. It’s a perfect summer quencher that’s easy to make and even easier to drink!
Bees Kiss
A dessert drink that isn’t overly sweet or filling, the Bees Kiss marries aged rum with the perfect amount of cream and honey to cover the alcohol but not the flavor of the main ingredient
Hemingway Daiquiri
Light. Dry. Crisp. Clean. Bright. Tart. Balanced. This version of the classic daiquiri brings everything great in the rum world and leaves the sugar out, thereby avoiding a monstrous hangover tomorrow after inevitably drinking these all day.
Mai Tai (Trader Vic’s)
Perhaps the most misunderstood cocktail in history, the Mai Tai has now come to mean ‘something fruity with rum’. Originally, the drink had limited ingredients, was simple and refreshing but with strong island vibes. The Mai Tai is a killer summer drink, a great introduction to tiki, and long overdue to return to classic status.
Air Mail
A riff on the classic French 75, the Air Mail brings a bit of the island life to the party. Rich yet well balanced, with just enough sweetness and citrus to compliment the sparkling wine at the end.
Daiquiri
Clean, Crisp, and Dry. Daiquiri’s are for any situation imaginable; the obvious poolside in the summer, but a crisp and tart refresher in the middle of winter does your psyche wonders.
